Visiting Corfu Island and eager to check out the beaches? We don’t blame you! Corfu is a beautiful island filled with crystal clear water and stunning mountain views. Below are our recommendations to make the most of your beach holiday.
What to Know about Corfu Beaches
Before going to a beach in Corfu, be sure to keep the following in mind:
Bring cash:
Beach chairs and towels are rented out, so if you want to sit, you will generally need to pay. These chairs sometimes come with tableside service that will bring you food and drinks, so you can sip a glass of wine and eat dessert while looking over the beautiful views.
Pro Tip: Be sure to get the local currency (Euro) before you come, so you don’t have to go looking for an ATM on the beach. You can get foreign currency at your bank or at an ATM affiliated with a Greek bank.
Consider water shoes
Corfu beaches can be rocky, so be sure to bring good sandals or water shoes in case.
Location
There aren’t as many beaches near Corfu Town, so you will likely need to venture out to check out the best beaches of the island. For planning purposes, the west side of the island is considered to have the best places to soak in the sun.
Be sure to either rent a car or check the bus schedule in advance. This will make planning your international trip much easier. Our tip: Car will be much easier, but if you are looking to save money and travel cheaply throughout Europe, the bus will be the less expensive option.
5 Corfu Island Beaches & Destinations
Glyko Beach
Situated between Rovina and Liapedes Beach, this small beach is a small gem and generally less crowded than other places nearby. It is a little rocky, but the views are stunning, with gorgeous and bright blue water. It does require a short hike to get here, but it is one of our favorite beaches in Corfu, so we still recommend going, especially if you go to Liapedes.

Liapedes Beach
This will generally have more tourists than Glyko Beach, but is very close by (walking distance). You can also rent out a boat tour from here (which we highly recommend).
When we went to Glyo, there was no service or chairs, but Liapedes will have this, so you can enjoy a drink and Greek yogurt while watching the waves (I did get one of my favorite Greek yogurts from my trip here!)

Sunset Boat Tour
Palaiokastritsa
There are several beaches in Palaiokastrista, and the views are stunning. The water was practically clear. There are also beautiful rocks and cliffs encasing these beachfronts.
Agios Gordios
This is also a popular beach and resort town. Once you are done soaking up the sun’s rays, we recommend checking out the cute downtown and grabbing a drink at Black Rocks Seaside Restaurant, which has views overlooking the water.

Canal d’Amour
Also known as the “Canal or Channel of Love”, this is a really fun beach. Natural erosion of the rocks has formed a tunnel or canal, which you can swim through. Legend has it that if you swim here with your partner, your love will last forever.
In addition to the canal, it’s fun to walk along the cliffs and check out the views below.

Corfu has plenty of stunning beaches that make it well worth a trip. So, whether you are visiting Corfu from Athens, the United States, or other parts of Europe, it’s a great destination to soak in the sunshine. Corfu is also just another reason that Greece is a good place to visit.
